This means that the move announced at the last Annual General Meeting will be completed on July 31, 2024. There were many reasons for the move to Olten. Office rental prices in the Bern area are generally very high, as there is high demand from federal and cantonal administrations, political groups and associations. At the same time, our industry is anchored in the greater Bern area with only a few companies. The SVI has therefore weighed up the situation and decided that geographical proximity to our industry is more important. Our Board member Patrick Semadeni, who is anchored in the Bern agglomeration, maintains political contact with Bern anyway. In addition, it should be easier to find new and expert personnel for SVI in the Olten area, as our and other industries are more strongly represented in the Mittelland. Last but not least, wage costs for new hires are also likely to be lower. Overall, the cost structure of the Swiss Packaging Institute in Olten will decrease, as considerable cost optimizations were possible in the office and IT areas and the travel expenses of the Olten office should be significantly lower. Managing Director Andreas Zopfi expects the move to have paid for itself after just one year. A very important advantage is that SVI training courses can now take place in well-equipped training rooms right next to the office. Until now, some of the training courses have also been held on the premises of the Hotel Olten. As a result, the educational events at the Migros Club School in Zurich, whose rental prices have recently been significantly increased, can be suspended. Olten is also centrally located and easy to reach both by car and by SBB. The new SVI office is located just a three-minute walk from Olten railroad station in the Hotel Olten building complex. The move to Olten also brings the Swiss Packaging Institute SVI closer to many companies in the Swiss packaging industry in the greater Zurich, Basel, Aarau and central Switzerland areas. A significant proportion of our members live here. Thanks to its central location, Olten is already widely known as a popular location for meetings for companies from all over Switzerland.
