News from SERI: Foreign workers play a key role in the Swiss labor market. According to the Swiss Labor Force Survey, they accounted for almost 30 percent of the working-age population aged 25 to 64 in 2022. With more people retiring each year than young workers coming into the workforce, immigration helps to meet the demand for skilled workers in Switzerland. Anyone with a foreign professional qualification who wants to work in Switzerland has access to the labor market in many professions. Questions arise when the exercise of the profession is regulated by law and diploma recognition is required. A study conducted by Ecoplan on behalf of SERI examined the regulations and recognition procedures and identified success factors and obstacles.
