Bülach, January 5, 2026 – Vetropack Group, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of glass packaging, has a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO): As planned, Dr. Lukas Burkhardt took over the operational management of Vetropack at the beginning of the year. The 46-year-old Swiss national succeeds Johann Reiter, who retired as planned at the end of 2025.

Lukas Burkhardt has many years of experience in the container glass and automotive industries. With a doctorate in mechanical engineering (ETH Zurich), he also gained international management experience in Asia. “I am very much looking forward to my new role and to leading Vetropack into the future,” explains Lukas Burkhardt. “For me, Vetropack is a traditional company with enormous potential: as a family business, we are strongly anchored in the market and have enormous expertise in the development of one of the most sustainable packaging solutions around. We are also well positioned internationally and have a team of experts across all locations. If we use these assets correctly, we can be successful even in the current very difficult market environment.”

Desired candidate with industry expertise
Chairman of the Board of Directors Claude Cornaz is very satisfied with the succession solution: “In Lukas Burkhardt, we have been able to recruit our desired candidate for the position of CEO. He knows our industry and knows what is important. At the same time, he brings fresh ideas and concepts from his previous positions to our company. We are very much looking forward to working with him!”

Cornaz also thanked the previous CEO Johann Reiter for his achievements: “Johann Reiter has successfully led Vetropack Group since 2018. In particular, he has driven forward the internationalization and strategic realignment of the Group. Johann Reiter has set important developments in motion and thus left a lasting mark on Vetropack.”
