The circular economy system for plastic packaging and beverage cartons proposed by PRISMA is important not only from a resource efficiency and littering perspective. The climate also benefits enormously when recycled materials are used instead of plastics from fossil sources. A study by Franklin Associates calculated significantly lower emission factors for recyclates.
